An ergonomically designed workstation minimizes the risk of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) such as low back pain, shoulder pain, and neck pain which are prevalent among office workers. At the end of the seminar, participants are expected to identify ergonomic risks in the workplace and identify practical interventions to prevent MSDs.
Who should attend?
The training should be attended by people who are involved in the risk assessment and design of workstations in the office or in the plant. These are usually facility engineers, occupational safety practitioners, company nurses and doctors, procurement personnel, layout engineer, architects and those that are involved in designing the workstation.
Why attend the seminar?
Designing workstations that are appropriate for the task and worker characteristics can enhance worker performance and safety. This training will provide participants with the basic skills required for assessing various workstations to ensure comfort and safety.
At the end of the seminar, the participants are expected to:
- Understand the relationship of worker characteristics and workstation design
- Assess a workstation and recommend appropriate controls to prevent MSDs
- Appropriately set-up workstations
- Practice and recommend exercise routines that reduce incidence of injuries
- Understand the causes of musculoskeletal disorders and identify appropriate interventions.
