Human Factors and Ergonomics Society
The Human Factors and Ergonomics Society of the Philippines is an organization composed of people from the industry, academe, and government who are interested in propagating the practice of ergonomics in the Philippines.
Starting as PHILERGO
The Philippine Ergonomics Society (PHILERGO) started in 2001 through the efforts of a small group from academia and industry. Based on initial dialogues, the goals formulated included development of ergonomics standards for the Philippines, gathering baseline statistics on accidents and injuries and collecting anthropometric data. Representatives of the Department of Labour and Employment (DOLE) and Department of Health (DOH) were invited to help promote the activities of the Society.

Recognized Federated Society
After 8 years, PHILERGO became a federated society of the International Ergonomics Association (IEA) and it helped organize the First Southeast Asian Network of Ergonomics Societies (SEANES2010) in 2010, which was held in Cebu City, Philippines.

Inauguration of the Organization
The formal inauguration took place in October 2003 with the theme “Uplifting quality of life through ergonomics”. The event was well attended by representatives from government, academia and industry.

Becoming HFESP
In 2012, PHILERGO was renamed Human Factors and Ergonomics Society of the Philippines (HFESP). It continued the mission of PHILERGO and represented the country in conferences and international organizations. It is a federated society of the International Ergonomics Association and a member of the Asian Council in Ergonomics and Design (ACED) and the Southeast Asian Ergonomics Society (SEANES).
